There are many kinds of squash, which can be cooked in many ways and can be used for tons of dishes. It is rich in essential nutrients, and if prepared properly, it is very delicious. This is a great superstar food, and it’s worth posting your own post here. So let’s learn more about squash.
Is pumpkin a fruit or vegetable
Although it has a salty taste, like a vegetable, pumpkin contains seeds and comes from flowers. Therefore, in botany, it is considered a kind of fruit. But since it is most often used in the same way as other vegetables, I totally agree with you calling it a vegetable. I just need to clarify: Pumpkin is actually a kind of fruit.
Types of squash
There are two main categories of squash:
squash, Harvested when immature. Their skins are very tender and flavorful, and they are eaten with meat most of the time.
Examples of zucchini include:
- summer pumpkin
- Yellow pumpkin
- Pattypan Pumpkin
- Westerly Squash
Winter melon, It usually has a thicker and tougher skin that allows it to stay cold-resistant in frost and colder temperatures.
Examples of winter melon include:
- Acorn Squash
- Butternut Squash
- Exquisite squash
- Cabocha Squash
