Sema4a company focused on AI-driven clinical data intelligence, published a study with Mount Sinai, using Sema4Network modeling to identify new targets for the treatment of patients with lung adenocarcinoma, the most common form of lung cancer in the United States.
The researchers collected early-stage lung adenocarcinoma tumor samples in a collaborative study. They sequenced the RNA, which was analyzed by Sema4’s gene-gene interaction network based on the sequencing data. This work identifies a gene expression signature that can differentiate between aggressive and non-aggressive tumors and unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor invasion in early-stage lung adenocarcinoma to improve patient diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
“This new paper shows how the synergy of computational, in vitro and in vivo technologies can accelerate the drug discovery process,” said Eric Schhadt, founder and CEO of Sema4 and an author on the paper. “By performing a comprehensive network analysis of early-stage lung adenocarcinomas, we were able to identify a gene expression signature that would enable stratification of patients and provide a potential new treatment approach for these patients.”
