Toyota 86 models from 2018 to 2019 are also part of the recall because it shares components with Subaru BRZ.
The problem with the recalled vehicles stems from the possible failure of the low-pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank. The driver may notice that the engine is running unsteadily, shaking, or making unusually loud noises just before the flameout occurs. The driver may also see the engine check light on the instrument panel illuminate, or in some cases, the vehicle may not start.
To fix this problem, Subaru dealers will replace the low-pressure fuel pump for free.
It is expected that the affected Subaru owners will receive a recall notice by mail from September 13th.
