Another 14 bodies were found in the rubble of the collapsed Surfside apartment, bringing the death toll to 78, of which 62 are still considered missing.

Since a building known to have “significant structural damage” collapsed on June 24 three years ago, no one has been found under the rubble.
“The severity of this tragedy is increasing every day,” Levin Kava said.
These efforts have shifted from search and rescue efforts to recovery tasks. As efforts to recover the victims continue, more than 13 million pounds of concrete have been removed from the site.

“Usually in the collapse of a building like this, you will find what we call voids. These spaces are created by objects that stop debris falling on top of your head. This is where you find the victim,” Christopher Dr. Valerian said.
“The building collapsed, and the pressure from the upper floors had just generated such a downward force that the normal empty spaces where the survivors were located simply did not exist,” he added.

President Biden tried to comfort family members who had lost loved ones in the tragic incident at the crash site last week.
“I wish I could do something to relieve the pain,” he said.
