Half of the women of the couple who were randomly shot during dinner in Houston told the authorities that she and her husband did not know the person who attacked them.
The Houston Police Chief Thursday night, the unidentified 24-year-old woman and her 29-year-old husband were in the bar of the downtown aquarium restaurant. A man approached them, took out a gun and “started shooting them immediately” assistant Director Matt Slinkard said.
Police said witnesses and security videos showed that the man had been sitting at the other end of the bar before the shooting. The husband died on the spot, and the wife had at least one gunshot wound on the leg.
Slinkard said at a press conference on Thursday night: “Initially, before this shooting, there was little or no interaction at all.”

On Friday, investigators tried to determine what prompted a man to open fire on a married couple, killing one and wounding the other, and then shot himself in a popular seafood restaurant in Houston.
Slinkard said the woman was hospitalized and was in stable condition. There were no reports of other injuries and no identities were immediately announced. The autopsy of the two deceased is scheduled for Friday.
“You know, this is a terrible and tragic event, and you know that this situation should make us all stop and send out as many prayers as possible for all families and all lives that may be affected,” Slinkard said.
It is unclear how many customers the restaurant has, but Slinkard said it is not very crowded.
A spokeswoman for the restaurant asked Houston police about the shooting.
This restaurant is popular with families because it has a 150,000 gallon (567,811 liter) aquarium and amusement park rides, including a huge Ferris wheel. The catering complex is owned by billionaire Tilman Fertitta’s Landry Company.
Elaine Khalil, who has been having dinner with her two children, told KTRK-TV She heard two gunshots, including four out of five.
She said that when the people inside fled, there was “panic and confusion”.
“The waiters were very calm, they took us to the back stairs and everyone ran out,” she said.
