- Butternut Squash – You can leave the skin on if you prefer.
- sweet potato– Their skin should be orange, not purple. They are different from yams.
- olive oil- Corn, canola and vegetable oils are also effective.
- salt and pepper – Kosher salt and fresh black pepper are best.
- Cinnamon- If there are any large chunks, sift it or break it up with your fingers.
For the cinnamon butter
- butter – Unsalted butter is best, but you can also use salted butter.
- Honey – Feel free to use maple syrup or agave nectar.
- Cinnamon- Don't replace it with nutmeg powder as it will taste very earthy.
How to Make Butternut Sweet Potato Hash
Here’s a toss and bake side! Set a timer so you don't forget to put it in the oven. Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the full recipe card.
- Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400F.
- Season them. Place squash and sweet potatoes in a large bowl and add olive oil, salt, pepper and cinnamon.
- Bake them. Spread vegetables on baking sheet. Place them in the oven for 30 minutes. Stir them with a wooden spatula and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
- Make the cinnamon buttercream. Beat butter with honey and cinnamon until fluffy and completely combined. You can also use a hand mixer for this purpose.
- Serve. Add cinnamon butter to the hash. Serve and enjoy!
Tips and variation ideas
This spiced sweet potato hash is a great way to use up veggies and turkey leftovers from other holiday dishes.
- More vegetables. Chop remaining bell peppers, mushrooms, baby potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. Toss them with sweet potatoes and pumpkin. 1-3 cups of vegetables is enough.
- Replace butter. If you're in a hurry, use your favorite sweet compound butter instead of homemade cinnamon butter. Vanilla compound butter also works.
- Add crunch. After removing from the oven, sprinkle with 1/2-1 cup chopped pecans, walnuts, cranberries, or sunflower seeds for extra texture.
- Watch out for the knife. Make sure to cut all vegetables into equal-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
- Season it. Toss the vegetables with 1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to add a little earthy heat.
- Add protein. Stir roast chicken, Air Fryer Chicken BreastsDuring the last 10 minutes of baking time, add turkey or pork to roasting pan for a heartier texture.
- Use leftovers. remaining slices Turkey Stuffed Poblano Peppers or Grilled Sweet Potatoes And add them to the hash to reduce food waste. You can also add some Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes.

Do not freeze it as it will lose its crispy edge and the consistency of the vegetable will change after thawing.
- refrigerator: Store hash in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Store cinnamon buttercream in a separate container for up to a week.
- To reheat: Sprinkle the hash powder with 1/2 teaspoon water and microwave for one minute or until hot. You can also bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes. Once heated add cinnamon cream on top.

- Preheat oven to 400°F.
