Authorities say a 12-year-old boy threatened a boy’s mother during a home invasion in Louisiana last month, and allegedly shot and killed an armed burglar.
The East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office said that on June 30, when Brad LeBron, 32, of Vidalia, met his unidentified mother outside his home near Clinton, Louisiana, he allegedly was holding a pistol. Advocate Report. Allegedly, LeBron forced the woman into her home, where a fight broke out.
East Feliciana Diocese Sheriff Jeffrey Travis said that the woman’s 12-year-old son was worried about his mother’s life and allegedly shot LeBron with a shotgun. The authorities have not yet released his name.
LeBlanc received emergency assistance from police and emergency personnel before being taken to the hospital, and he was later pronounced dead.
Travis said in a statement that they currently have no evidence to “convict the 12-year-old child” and therefore the Sheriff’s Office will not bring charges against the boy. He added that after the sheriff’s office concludes the investigation, the local prosecutor will determine whether the shooting is justified.
Two other people allegedly involved in the invasion were arrested after the incident.
Clinton’s Johnathon Barker was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated burglary and aggravated kidnapping. He was not accused of killing anyone, but the sheriff said that his alleged involvement in the theft led to LeBron’s death.
On the other hand, Jennifer Bond of Ethel was later charged with an accessory crime.
Both were imprisoned in the Diocese Prison of East Feliciana. There is no mention of whether both are legally represented at the time of writing.
“I don’t know what you say to such a child. This is such a terrible incident that I tried to put myself in that position this week, thinking that when my children were 12 years old, if they had to do it, I Will tell them what,” Travis quoted WAFB TV As said.
Travis said that after the shooting, the mother began to take steps to get help for herself and her son.
“Mother understands that he needs some treatment, needs to talk to people, and helps him understand that he is a very normal person in an abnormal situation,” the police chief said.
This investigation is still ongoing. The authorities will announce more details when deemed appropriate.
