The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proposed to impose the largest robocall fine in history on right-wing provocateurs Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman. The agency proposed to impose a fine of 5,134,500 US dollars to punish the two suspected of making illegal calls to the wireless phone without the caller’s prior explicit consent.
Allegedly, from August 26 to September 14, 2020, Wohl and Burkman used the dial-up service to make calls. The pre-recorded message was delivered by a woman who claimed to be “Tamika Taylor of Project 1599.” Project 1599 is the name of Wohl’s political organization.
These calls mistakenly told potential voters in battlefield states that voting via email would result in their personal information being put into public databases. The database will then “be used by the police to track old warrants, credit card companies to collect debts, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) To track individual vaccinations,” said the New York Attorney General’s Office.
The Federal Communications Commission stated that Wall and Berkman admitted after taking the oath that they created and paid for automated phones to contact voters in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Before any further measures are taken, the two men will be allowed to respond to the fines proposed by the FCC by submitting additional evidence and legal arguments.

In addition to the fines imposed by the Federal Communications Commission, these people also face potential fines and imprisonment for their robot calls in other states. The states accused the two of trying to suppress the poor and black Americans.
On October 1, 2020, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed four felony charges against these individuals. When asked by the Associated Press, Wall blamed these automated calls on “left-wing pranksters.” He said the prankster had forged Burkman’s mobile phone number to make his colleague look like the source. Wall later claimed in court that these calls were not to suppress votes, but to exercise men’s right to freedom of speech.
In the same month, the prosecutor Ohio The two were charged with eight counts of wire fraud and seven counts of bribery. If convicted, these people could face 18 years in prison.
Last May, Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the two. The James office reviewed the emails of these individuals and allegedly discussed locating the phones to areas with large black populations. If these people are found to be responsible, they will face fines of up to 2.75 million U.S. dollars.
James said in a press statement that the two “used misinformation to try to deprive the black community of rights before the election, apparently to make the election benefit their preferred presidential candidate.”
The two lawyers in the New York case Randy Kleinman (Randy Kleinman) called James’ behavior “absolutely a witch hunt” and “obviously a politically motivated thing.”
When asked about the fine proposed by the FCC, Kleiman clarified Weekly newspaper His law firm did not represent the duo in any way related to the FCC’s actions.
“At first glance, the government’s press release seems to be too much-a $5 million fine for 1 million calls?” Kleiman wrote Weekly newspaper“And to bring it up during the pending criminal and civil proceedings, it looks like the Biden administration is trying to point the finger at the scales of justice.”
“According to the FCC’s own statement, this is the first time they have done such a thing,” Kleiman added. “On the surface-it looks like a political sanction, not an act of an administrative agency. I will negotiate with my client.”
In the past, Wall and Berkman have repeatedly made false accusations of sexual assault against left-leaning politicians and public figures, but none of them succeeded.Their goals include special advisers Robert Mueller, Former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg with Elizabeth Warren And the infectious disease expert doctor. Anthony Fauci.
The public defamation of the two sometimes involved press conferences held in front of Berkman’s house, in which the accusers were involved, and their accusations were quickly exposed by reporters and Internet detectives. According to the “Daily Beast” report, Wall also fabricated death threats and protests against himself.
