I recently started using an air fryer and I can’t believe how much impact it has on our way of cooking. We have never used a deep fryer, unless we had it with our parents when we were young, and we rarely use shallow frying for anything. Potato chips and wedges have always been cooked in the oven, but since we have an air fryer, I prefer to make chips from scratch because I know they have only a very small amount of oil.
we like Southern Fried Chicken In our house as much as everyone else, usually just put it in the oven. However, it will never taste the same as a suitable takeaway chicken. A few years ago, the ex-wife of a specific colonel published the original KFC formula. So I think I will adjust it a bit and let it in our air fryer.
The air fryer fakeaway fried chicken tastes absolutely amazing! This recipe requires a lot of ingredients that are not on my spice rack, however, all of these are available at my local Asda for a few pounds. I use chicken thighs because I prefer thigh meat when frying. This is of course a personal preference. You can easily use it instead of breast meat, chicken wings, or even chop the whole chicken like in a bucket.
raw material
150 g plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 tablespoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon English mustard powder
1 tablespoon white pepper
1 teaspoon of mixed spices
Oil lamp or fuel injection
method
- Put the flour, herbs and spices in a large mixing bowl and mix well.
- Cut the chicken into desired pieces.
- Dip the chicken in a bowl of cold water, then roll it into the flour mixture until it is completely covered.
- Shake off the excess flour, place it on a plate, and repeat until all the chicken is coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200 degrees.
- Divide your chicken into several batches, and only allow one layer of chicken in the basket at a time. If there is more than one batch, preheat the oven to 150 degrees to keep the chicken warm while the next batch is cooking.
- Spray the chicken on both sides with oil spray or fried light, and put it in the basket.
- Depending on the size of your pieces, air fry each side for 5-6 minutes.
- Serve immediately, whatever you want. Put it on a hamburger or roll, put it in a salad, or put it on a plate with fries, beans, and coleslaw.
