After five residents died during the evacuation of Hurricane Ida, the owners of a group of nursing homes in Louisiana under investigation insisted that these nursing homes were “done very well” because no more people died.
Bob Dean is the owner of seven nursing homes that evacuated residents to a warehouse facility in Independence, Louisiana, before the hurricane made landfall on Sunday. He told WAFB that he intended to protect the privacy of residents while insisting that investigators entered the property illegally and violated his constitutional rights.
“The Fourth Amendment stipulates that they must have an arrest warrant to enter private property,” Dean said. “Not to mention the confiscation of people or property. So, they entered there illegally.”
