Tony Bucher Wants Everyone to Hear Your Music

Anthony Bucher enjoys music as much as the rest of the world. He has a playlist for every task he performs throughout the day. When Tony falls in love with a song, he can help turn that track and its artist into the next global hit.

Since 2016, Tony Bucher has been the CEO and President of Hitmaker Services, which has been involved in 300 Billboard Top 200 projects. Sony, Universal, Warner Bros., Atlantic Records, eOne, and other companies are among his clients. Bucher is also the founder of New Wave Distro, a new digital distribution platform that gives artists and labels complete control over their catalogue and releases while also providing extensive marketing services.

Tony has come a long way since earning a business management degree from Purdue in 1995. He co-founded BC Forward, an Indianapolis-based IT firm that did not receive venture capital funding, in 1998. In 2004, the Indianapolis Business Journal named him one of Indiana’s top 40 under 40 business leaders. With $55 million in revenue and clients such as Eli Lilly, Proctor and Gamble, and others, BC Forward had grown to become Indiana’s largest privately-owned IT company and the third-largest in the Midwest a decade later.

Bucher also bought and became CEO of EZ Show Network, a leading provider of out-of-home (OOH) advertising solutions, sometime around 2008. He negotiated a 10-year exclusive contract with Follett Higher Education, America’s largest educational bookstore chain. Before selling to Atlanta-based 3 Feet Media in 2009, Tony signed advertising deals with global brands such as Adidas, Lions Gate, and various media companies.

In 2009, Bucher launched Gracie Productions, which grew to become the fifth-largest independent music company in the United States, with clients including Universal, EMI, MTV, NBC, and others. He and his team have collaborated with a variety of artists, including Eminem, Lil Wayne, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift.

When asked what qualities Hitmaker Distro looks for in a song or artist, Bucher says:

I approach submissions with the goal of assisting the artist in monetizing each part of what they send me. I’m also thinking about whether this would make a good video, ringtone, or something we could promote on Spotify. So I try to evaluate each artist’s or producer’s work in terms of how I can best help them monetize that song.”
