The country’s battered tourism industry is starting to recover, albeit slowly, as nearly all restrictions on entering Thailand and enjoying a stay are eased.
The gradual easing of travel restrictions has brought as many as 1.61 million tourists to Thailand so far as of mid-June, up 3,895 percent from the full year of 2021.
Tourists will be allowed to enter the country by providing a negative Covid-19 test after Thai authorities cancelled the unpopular Test & Go scheme from May 1 and allowed unvaccinated or partially vaccinated tourists to enter the country from June 1. The number of people has increased in particular.
The next surge in arrivals is expected to begin on July 1, when Thailand will end all entry restrictions and most Covid-19-related entertainment regulations. From that date, mandatory pre-travel registration for foreigners (known as the Thailand Pass) and mandatory Covid-19 health insurance will be removed.
Longer service hours in bars and pubs
All bars, pubs, karaoke clubs and other nighttime entertainment venues in the country have been allowed to reopen, but the requirement to close at midnight remains in place. It is understood that the maximum service time depends on the regulations of each city,
As the number of new virus cases continues to decline, rules for wearing masks outdoors will also be broadly relaxed from July 1.

From January 1 to mid-June, the highest number of tourists to Thailand was from India (169,131), followed by Malaysia (137,969), the United Kingdom (107,438), Singapore (98,701) and Germany (86,480).
The government expects about 1.5 million international tourists a month for the rest of the year, up from a previous target of 1 million.
At least 7.5 million international tourists are expected to visit Thailand this year, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said. However, he added that his ministry would launch additional campaigns, especially during the peak season between October and December, to bring arrivals to 10 million this year. By comparison, last year, before the pandemic hit, nearly 40 million people arrived in the country, a record.
