As #ADayOffTwitch gained attention, users boycotted Twitch. Due to hate attacks on blacks, queer people and the disabled, users called for increased safety awareness.
Some users believe that there are insufficient regulations to control “hate raids”, that is, a large number of comments occupy the user’s information flow, which contains offensive and harmful comments.
The boycott was created by RekitRaven, ShineyPen, and Lucia Everblack, who wanted to draw attention to the problems suffered by many Twitch anchors.
Twitch anchor Raven talked about one of them being raided during a live broadcast, when a robot attacked her chat room and asked “Hey, are the black goths called Giggers?” According to the interview NPR.
Raven told NPR that being called “fat, black and you are a woman” is a normal hate comment she is “accustomed to”, but at that time the attacker will start to include her address, personal information, and comments about her. Children begin to become a real Security issues.

The Twitch community stated that these types of intrusions are especially racist, sexist, and transgender.
Boycott plan It has been gathered since July, and users finally set the boycott date as September 1.
Twitch accepted the boycott and tweeted on August 20 that they did believe that the platform should call for more action and “do more”, and they knew exactly what they needed to do.
“We have seen a lot of discussions about robots, hate attacks, and other forms of harassment against marginalized creators. You ask us to do better, and we know we need to do more to solve these problems. This includes questions about Creators’ secure open and ongoing dialogue,” twitch Said.
Hate spam attacks are the result of bad actors with strong motivations, and there is no simple solution. Your report helped us take action-we have been constantly updating our site-wide banned word filter to help prevent variants of hate and defamation, and remove bots when found.

Some of the site’s most popular anchors have remained apparently silent on Twitch, but some people believe that “not streaming” concessions are to give robots and attackers what they want.
“I accept that not everyone will support #ADayOffTwitch,” ShineyPen told THe edge.
“I believe that many, but not all, of these larger creators speak from a privileged perspective.”
