A Japanese court ruled that after the Hiroshima atomic bomb exploded in 1945 during World War II, 84 people exposed to radioactive “black rain” could receive the government’s national medical benefits.
The Hiroshima High Court upheld the District Court’s ruling in July 2020, which declared that dozens of people who fell ill after the bombing but were located outside the area previously set by the government should also be proven to be survivors of the bombing.
