According to the Associated Press, Washington, DC and Tucson, Arizona are the cities that have recently restored mask regulations, regardless of vaccination status.
“I know that DC residents have been following public health guidelines very closely and they will accept this. We will continue to do so to ensure the safety of DC,” said DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.
The new rules for residents of Washington, DC will come into effect on Saturday, and the new rules for Tucson will take effect on Thursday.
As the Delta variant sweeps the country, the number of coronavirus cases is on the rise, causing cities to restore mask regulations. Some cities in New York and Nevada have again required to wear masks indoors, regardless of whether someone has been vaccinated.
It has not been decided whether or when a booster injection is needed. However, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Said that according to Reuters, fully vaccinated Americans do not need booster injections at this time.

Taking into account the number of local infections and CDC’s new guidelines, this is expected. CDC now encourages vaccinated people to wear masks indoors in areas classified as “mass community transmission”. This includes the District of Columbia and neighboring communities in Alexandria and Loudoun County, Virginia.
The public health emergency in the school district expired this week, but the general public emergency still exists. Bowser said that the only exception to the new rules is that people “actively eat and drink.”
DC Health Director Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt said that vaccination will be re-introduced because injections “continue to prevent serious illness, hospitalization and death.”
In response to CDC’s new guidelines aimed at reducing the spread of the coronavirus, several major cities in Arizona are reformulating the requirements for people in city-owned facilities to wear masks.
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero (Regina Romero) said she instructed city managers on Wednesday to require masks to be worn in city facilities regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.
Whether people are vaccinated or not, the authorizations announced by Phoenix, Peoria and Tempe also apply.
Peoria’s requirements took effect on Thursday, and Tempe’s requirements took effect on Friday, with exemptions for children under 6 years of age.
Phoenix said in a statement that similar requirements imposed by the Phoenix City Manager on all city facilities will take effect on Monday.
Most areas of Arizona, including the Phoenix and Tucson areas, have reached the threshold of large-scale community transmission.
