Veterans Day aims to commemorate all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, both the living and the dead, although it is mainly for living veterans.
Often confused with Memorial Day, the main difference between Veterans Day and May Holiday is that Memorial Day is meant to commemorate those who gave their lives in the service of the country. A few months later, on November 11, Veterans Day is celebrated, a day to express gratitude to American soldiers who have served in war and peace in the past and present.
This holiday was originally called Armistice Day and was originally to commemorate the end of the First World War. The war officially ended on June 28, 1919, when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, but the fighting ended when the Allies and Germany promulgated the Treaty of Versailles a few months ago. Since the fighting ended on November 11, 1918, Armistice Day has been largely recognized, and President Woodrow Wilson was the first to declare it.
