According to reports, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has withdrawn from the popular action comedy film “The Smiths” by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, which was adapted by Amazon.
The British actress, known for the independent TV hit “Fleabag”, left the project because her creative vision for the series is different from other star and executive producer Donald Glover, an unnamed source told Hollywood Report.
Despite her decision, insiders told the media that Waller-Bridge and Glover had worked together in 2018 “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” is still a friend, and the split is “friendly.”
Waller Bridge’s role will now be reshaped, but Glover, who brought the actress the idea of the “Smiths” remake, will continue to serve as the project’s co-creator, executive producer and actor. The series is still expected to debut in 2022.
Francesca Sloane is a collaborator of FX’s “Atlanta”. Through the overall transaction with Amazon, she is still the co-creator, show host and executive producer of the series. Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency will also serve as executive producers.
Waller-Bridge withdrew from the project seven months after announcing the cooperation. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios and New Regency, confirmed the revival and the casting of the two Emmy Award winners, describing Waller Bridge and Glover as the “dream team” at the time.
“Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. This is really a dream for us and the global audience. Let these two natural forces work together to become a powerful The power of the creative team,” Salke said in an interview statement Entertainment tonight in February.
She continued, “The’Smiths’ is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca made it into themselves. We are very happy to work with them and to work with them. Regent’s partner.”
Waller-Bridge is currently busy with her starring “Indiana Jones 5” and the final season of the AMC/BBC American “Kill Eve” she is performing. She also participated in the script for the upcoming James Bond movie “No Time to Die”.
Glover still has several projects. He is in post-production for season 3 of FX’s “Atlanta” and season 4 is in production. He has written all the scripts for the fourth season. The third season is expected to return in the first half of 2022, and the fourth season is expected to premiere in a few months.
