Women’s softball state champions receive gift bags instead of trophies like boys

A team of young girls just won the state softball championship. They did not win the same trophy as their male baseball peers. In fact, the girl did not get the trophy at all, just like the boy. The girls received gift bags, and their sage boys received trophies and medals.

Someone spoke up for the 8U women’s team in Oviedo, Florida, and soon they won the same trophy as the boys won at the Babe Ruth State Championship.

Rob Connor, vice president of operations for the National Babe Ruth League, said the organization hopes to avoid this problem in the future.

“Hello. I work at United Trophy in Orlando and have heard the story of 8U women’s softball. We also sent trophies, medals and awards to the coaches. Of course not applicable,” they tweeted.

The Babe Ruth League was originally founded in 1951 by a group of people who believed that they needed to develop baseball in the youth sector across the country. It quickly expanded to a broad age group among boys, and eventually to the softball age group.

The distinction between female and male athletes is often raised, but the most prominent are the two major women’s events in 2019 and 2021. With the US women’s national football team winning the World Cup again with an overwhelming advantage, the pay gap between the men and women’s teams was exposed. The men’s team failed to even qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

A few months ago, when the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball championships started in Indianapolis (men) and San Antonio (women), Stanford University coaches circulated the inadequacies of fitness facilities on social media. The NCAA corrected its problem to a certain extent by adding some weight and machinery, but it still wasn’t what these people got in their Indiana factory.
