YouTube adds more analytics on views and revenue

YouTube is working hard to provide creators with more data on video performance, including detailed reports on views and revenue streams.

Additionally, YouTube plans to actively assist creators with new video ideas by adding trend reports.

These features are previewed in a new video on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel, which provides a “lurking peak” of what the report will look like when it becomes available.

Some reports are actively being processed, while others are in the conception stage.

Here’s more information on analytics that YouTube plans to roll out later this year.

Video Views by Type

YouTube creators want to know more about where their video views come from.

If you post regular videos, post short clips, and host live broadcasts, all views count as a metric in analytics reports.

YouTube is working on a new report showing different video formats and an overview of the number of views generated by each type.

You’ll be able to see data about the length of your uploads, how long you stream, how many views you get for each format, and more.

“We want to give you an overview of the different formats. So, for example, how much you upload and how much you livestream. Tell you the views of each format, tell you the audience overlap between those different formats, and then let you drill down individually Every format. So you can see the right analysis, whether it’s regular video, short film or live.”

Revenue by Source

For creators eligible to monetize their videos, YouTube plans to add more data on each revenue stream.

Revenue data will be broken down by video type and how revenue is generated.

You’ll be able to directly see how much money you’ve made from regular videos, short clips and live streams.

Additionally, YouTube plans to add more data on the monetization methods it offers.

The new earnings report will go into more detail about memberships, tagging products, SuperChats, and all the different ways to make money on YouTube.

Help creators find new video ideas

Another type of report that YouTube is working on will provide data designed to help generate new video ideas.

YouTube recently launched an experimental tool that shows the popularity of certain search terms and which video topics lack content.

The tool will expand to show what’s trending on YouTube and which videos are starting to gain popularity with your audience.

Additionally, the tool will provide ideas for new topics that you can expand your audience to, as well as topics that might resonate with your existing audience.

There is no timeline for when these new features will roll out. YouTube plans to continue working throughout the year.
