Are you looking for the best places to visit in October? If you are already tired of hearing about pumpkin spice, fall foliage, crispy fall evenings, backyard bonfires and did I say pumpkin spice?
That means it’s time to start researching where is hot in October and start planning your 2021 October fall getaway.
Schools are back in, airports are less crowded, the coronavirus has finally died down, and last but not least the prices are at an all-time low because it’s shoulder season.
There are tons of hot countries in October that are waiting for you from the Hawaiian islands, surfer towns in Costa Rica, luxury resorts in Mexico, or historical destinations.
All of these destinations have pretty hot temperatures and you will not be in need of a jacket at my favorite warm-weather destinations for October.
So check out my list of warm weather vacation destinations where it is still hot in October and you will need to pack your bathing suits and sunscreen.
Hot Places To Vacation In October
1. Amalfi Coast, Italy
The Amalfi Coast is not as warm as other hot countries in October. The Amalfi Coast of Italy is one of my favorite destinations and in the fall the coast offers temperatures in the mid-70s temperatures in October.
The Amalfi Coast is beautiful from its stunning cliffs, turquoise ocean, quaint beaches, and small towns along the rugged coast.
The historical cities, authentic Italian dishes, and romantic views attractions make this is warm weather fall destination that should be on your bucket list.
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Hotel Onda Verde
Hotel Onda Verde is where I spent my honeymoon and is a romantic hotel that’s a favorite of couples celebrating honeymoons and anniversaries.
This family-run boutique hotel is carved into the cliffs along the Amalfi coast and sits directly above the beautiful Mediterranean, in the quiet village of Praiano.

2. Tempe, Arizona
The best time to visit Tempe is November through April when you’ll see blue skies with highs in the upper 60s, 70s, and low 80s.
But whenever you visit, keep in mind this desert city’s seasons are hard to determine. The leaves don’t change colors in fall, nor will flowers blossom in the spring.
With 330 days of sunshine per year, Tempe, Arizona is the ideal destination for a mother-daughter weekend trip.
Located just east of Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert, Tempe is centrally located and just minutes from Scottsdale which makes it an ideal home base for road trips and day trips from Tempe to Superstition Mountain or an authentic ghost-town.
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Tempe Mission Palms
Tempe Mission Palms is where my daughter and I spent last fall connecting and bonding with an all-needed girls’ trip.
There are countless things to do in Tempe, and beautiful weather year-round, you won’t be disappointed with a trip to Tempe this fall if you are looking for a warm-weather destination to replace the cooler fall temps.

3. Turks and Caicos
If you are dreaming of the perfect fall warm-weather getaway that is far removed from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I suggest Turks & Caicos as it is one of my favorite family vacations.
From its crystal-clear waters and 12 miles of powdery white-sand beaches and you’ll see why the Turks & Caicos islands not only feature one of the best beaches in the world but are also one of the top diving and snorkeling destinations.
If you are looking for where is hot in October for a quick getaway do not overlook Turks and Caicos.
Best Hotel Pick: Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos
Beaches Resort In Turks and Caicos has a wide variety of accommodations and many of them offer great deals and special packages throughout the year.
If you time it right at Beaches resorts, you can often see significant savings over standard ‘rack rates.’ Resorts and hotels packages that combine room nights with other services and amenities such as dining, spa treatments, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, or golf.

4. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
Costa Rica is sandwiched between Nicaragua and Panama in Central America and is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east.
From rainforests, cloud forests, and tropical forests in San Jose to the undeveloped Santa Teresa. There is something for everyone no matter if you’re craving the beach, an adventure seeker, or a nature-lover.
In Santa Teresa, you will find howler monkeys, frogs, and quetzals which are brightly colored blue, green, and red birds with a mohawk-like crown.
The Corcovado National Park, the largest tropical rainforest in Pacific Central America, is home to scarlet macaws, giant anteaters, and countless lizards.
Costa Rica should be on your bucket list because it is one of those warm-weather destinations that offer everything from ziplining, surfing, hiking, and shopping.
If you are looking for hot places in October to vacation – The heat in Costa Rica is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced! It’s definitely hot!
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Florblanca Resort
Florblanca Resort is a luxury resort on the shores of the Pacific coast, Florblanca is an award-winning destination for every adventurous traveler.
Located on the pristine beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula, in an unspoiled tropical jungle overlooking the world-famous surf of Playa Santa Teresa, Florblanca offers a vacation experience like no other.

5. San Ignacio, Belize
Another one of my favorite hot countries is Belize to visit if you are in need of a weekend getaway. I suggest visiting San Ignacio which is also known as “Cayo,” and is also home to Belize’s largest Lobster festival.
San Ignacio is the perfect base for those who would love to be close to nature and historical sites like Mayan ruins, including Caracol and Xunantunich.
Take a day trip to explore the smaller lesser-known blue hole. This is an inland sinkhole located 12 miles south of the City Of Belmopan in the very center of the country.
Yes, it is locally known simply as the Blue Hole. Its location right on the Hummingbird Highway makes this natural swimming pool an attraction for locals and tourists.
The inland Blue Hole is within the St. Herman’s Cave system and is administered as a national park, Parking facilities are available and the Blue Hole is accessible by a short flight of stairs that take you down approximately 30 feet into the very cool freshwater pool.
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Ka’ana Resort
Ka’ana Resort is a luxe outpost where wandering spirits roam free. Nestled deep in the tropical jungle of western Belize, our boutique resort is an oasis of style, culture, personalized service, and modern amenities for well-seasoned adventurers and tastemakers alike.
The location on the doorstep of an ancient Maya city has inspired Ka’ana’s name, which means “Heavenly Place.”
Their villas and suites have been thoughtfully designed to provide the ultimate in luxury while integrating the property’s natural beauty.
You’ll find clean lines and modern amenities paired harmoniously with sumptuous Belizean textures and textiles. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape or an adventure abroad, you’ll always feel at home at Ka’ana.

6. The Canary Islands
While the Canary Islands are part of Spain they are much closer to Africa than they are to Europe.
The Canary Islands are tropical in appearance with a Mediterranean feel and the Canary Islands attract visitors from all over the world to lounge on black- and white-sand Atlantic beaches.
If you are adventurous there are world-class national parks and leisure activities from aerial-tram riding to scuba diving.
The Canary Islands is one of the best European destinations in October with a wide range of activities on these seven islands from water sports and hiking trails to modern art and charming colonial towns.
Although each island is different, they have in common their volcanic origins, which have led to some of their most distinctive natural attractions.
The four largest islands, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria all have fascinating volcanic features, two of which are national parks. The islands have three UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Canary Islands
Lani Suites is an adults-only luxury hotel located 10 minutes from the airport of Lanzarote, in Puerto del Carmen, the most important touristic area.

7. Praslin Island, Seychelles
Praslin Island has been called one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Anse Lazio is fantastic year-round, but visiting in October when there are fewer crowds and milder weather is perfect for a fall getaway.
Enjoy views of the turquoise Indian Ocean waters and fine-grained, white sands from one of the luxury villas on the Island.
The crystal-clear waters surrounding Praslin are considered excellent for scuba diving, while along its coast there are some great spots for snorkeling.
Heading away from the beach, why not join a guided walk through the ancient forest – home not only to endemic flora but also to the very rare Black Parrot?
Praslin’s stunning beauty can also be enjoyed from the air, with helicopter sightseeing tours affording spectacular views over the island and the rest of the archipelago.
Best Boutique Hotel Pick: Raffles Seychelles
In the heart of the island of Praslin, aptly referred to as the mythological and idyllic ‘Garden of Eden’, are 86 contemporary and luxurious villas, among the most spacious in Seychelles.
Each villa at Raffles Seychelles features a private outdoor pavilion, plunge pool, and balcony to soak up breathtaking views of the opal-hued ocean, white sandy beach, and lush green hills.
Only fifteen minutes by plane or helicopter from Mahé island (or a scenic fifty-five minutes by ferry), and a million miles from the ordinary, Raffles is loved by those with an adventurous spirit and a taste for the very best.
8. Montego Bay, Jamaica
Montego Bay is almost synonymous with Jamaica. It is without a doubt one of the most popular parts of the Caribbean island, highly touristic, and undeniably beautiful.
Lots of people traveling to Jamaica choose to stay in Montego Bay because of the wide range of accommodations that can be found there, and the attractions and tours available in the area.
Montego Bay has long been a haven for tourists seeking sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and exciting nightlife.
Though there is no shortage of these things, the city has much more to offer than you could imagine.

9. Barbados
If you want a Caribbean vacation in October, opt for Barbados—its easternmost position makes it one of the least likely islands to experience a direct hit during hurricane season.
Considered one of the best beaches on the island, Browne’s Beach boasts calm, warm, crystal-clear water that’s perfect for morning snorkeling with sea turtles—one of the area’s most popular activities.
After your marine life encounter, you can wind down on the fluffy white sands or grab food and drink from any one of the local beachside restaurants.
Speaking of good bites, don’t miss October’s Food and Rum Festival to see Barbados live up to its “Culinary Capital of the Caribbean” title, with an appearance by British celebrity chef Tom Aikens.
Best Hotel Pick: Hilton Barbados
Located in the capital city of Bridgetown, the Hilton feels larger than its 355 rooms — likely because of its high-rise structure and the fact it holds the biggest hotel meeting facility on the island.
Hilton Barbados checks all the boxes that you have come to expect from a Hilton property. The rooms are modern and appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
My favorite thing about the resort is that all of the hotel rooms have private balconies overlooking either the ocean or Carlisle Bay; 77 rooms on executive floors offer a private lounge and concierge services.
Butler service is also available for an additional charge, regardless of room type.
The broad white-sand beach, the sprawling bi-level pool complex, and a host of activities on land and sea—both on-site and nearby—make this a hit with vacationing families, as well.
Children under 18 stay free in a room with adults. Babysitting can also be arranged for a fee.

10. Fiji Islands
October is the perfect time to visit Fiji before its cyclone season starts in November. Looking for the ultimate relaxation spot?
The unspoiled beaches at Yasawa Islands are extra serene compared to Fiji’s more popular Mamanucas.
One caveat: this getaway is best for someone wanting to really disconnect since there aren’t many shops or restaurants on the island—here, it’s all about natural beauty.
With clear blue waters and uncharted reefs, the Yasawas are especially great for scuba diving and snorkeling. You also can’t miss swimming in the hidden chambers of the Blue Lagoon Caves.
We recommend staying at Yasawa Island Resort for access to 11 of the most amazing private beaches and the opportunity to stay in a traditionally thatched, beachfront bure suite.
Best Hotel Pick: Yasawa Island
Located on Yasawa Island, Yasawa Island Resort is by the sea and within the region of Sawa-I-Lau Caves and Honeymoon Island.
Make yourself at home in one of the 18 air-conditioned rooms featuring refrigerators and minibars. Rooms have private furnished balconies or patios.

Sonoma, a county in Northern California known for its bucolic charms and array of wineries, could also be described as Napa’s rustic, less-refined, and more relaxed sister.
Its rolling hills, which rise into the Sonoma Mountains and descend to the Pacific shore, also contain a cache of small cities that are worth a visit:
Try Santa Rosa for an urban escape, complete with museums and buzzy restaurants, but pop by Glen Ellen for a slice of small-town Americana.
In short, if you want a laid-back introduction to stellar vintages and gorgeous properties, Sonoma – rather than Napa – should be your California wine country destination.

DO YOU NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE WHEN TRAVELING THIS FALL?
YES! Travel Insurance is important no matter where you are traveling because accidents happen and you should always travel with insurance.
I got extremely sick in the Czech Republic and that was the one time I decided to forego travel insurance and I racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills and they wanted their money before I would even be seen by the ER Doctors.
