SAE Media Group reports: The Defense Export Conference will feature four different workshops around defense trade compliance, which will take place in September 2022.
SAE Media Group is pleased to announce its 16th Annual Defense Export Conferencewhich will happen in September 13-14, 2022exist London, England.
A truly global event, delegates will hear from government speakers and senior international trade compliance professionals from around the world on regulatory controls, including ITAR, EAR, ECR, dual-use and Wassenaar arrangements.
This year’s conference will feature 4 workshops around the defense export community:
Workshop A: Briefing on UK Strategic Export Controls, London, UK, 12 September.
An introduction to UK ‘strategic’ exports, with a brief introduction to the history and foundations of UK exports and trade in controlled military and dual-use items.
It includes consideration of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and military end-uses for other uncontrolled commodities, challenges and solutions regarding the export of software and technology, and how to effectively apply for or use a UK licence.

Adrian Bond Be a Business Awareness Training Manager UK Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) and Chartered Electronics Engineer. Adrian is responsible for delivering ECJU training to new and existing exporters across the UK.
Workshop B: U.S. export and re-export controls September 12, London, UK.
This seminar will explore what European companies need to know in order to master U.S. export, re-export and re-transfer controls. It will also cover the company’s obligations under the U.S. Department of Defense Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Program. Special emphasis is placed on reviewing subcontractors/sublicensors, downstream customers and end users, freight forwarders/customs brokers/warehouses, and your U.S. suppliers needing your sales rep/broker’s “chain of custody” information to prepare for bulletproof ITAR and EAR application.
About the workshop leader:
Gary Stanley is the president Global Legal Services, PC, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm focused on trade compliance issues. Mr. Stanley has represented numerous U.S., Canadian and European companies on defense export control issues.
Ed Pelttree is Group Deputy Head of Export Controls, Licensing and Policy at BAE Systems plc.
Workshop C: The Challenge of Controlling Tech/Technical Data in a Cyber World on September 15, 2022 in London, UK.
This workshop will give attendees a better understanding of cybersecurity regulatory requirements, such as CMMC, DFARS and UK Cyber Essentials, and introduce practical strategies for managing compliance and controlled defence data.
About the workshop leader:
Rick Bagley is a cybersecurity leader with a lifelong passion for technology. He served 6 years in the U.S. Air Force, followed by NSA success as a Global Cyber Analyst, National Cryptography School Lecturer, and Division Director.
Francisco (Paco) Queiroz Diverse backgrounds in technology, business and law. He earned his MBA and law degrees from Marquette University before working for Kimberly-Clark and Tata Consultancy Services.
Workshop D: EU Export Control Navigator on September 15, 2022 in London, UK.
The workshop will provide a comprehensive overview and update of export control and compliance requirements for all major European economies. The workshop will highlight the scope of each country’s export control system, break down the national control list, and provide practical tips for export license determination and application.
