I’ll never forget that after our first winter in Vermont, we were packing up our cars to head back to Newport for the summer. Throughout the day, our neighbors would stop by to say hello and chat. Every time we say we’re going to Rhode Island, they answer “Why are you leaving now, the best time in Vermont is summer!” Indeed, summer in Vermont is magical, and Woodstock is no exception. It’s voted one of the most beautiful towns in the country for good reason, hiking on warm sunny days, swimming in rivers and lakes, and mountain biking are just some of the incredible things you can do there activity.
From spectacular natural scenery, historic farms and buildings, covered bridges to charming country shops, boutiques and first-class farms, to table food, there is plenty for all kinds of travelers to do. 15 things to do in Woodstock VT this summer
Dinner at Cloudland Farm
dinner at Yundi Farm Topping Woodstock’s summer list. Get a true farm-to-table experience and dine al fresco overlooking the rolling hills and mountains. The menu is a daily changing 3-course pre-selected menu featuring ingredients grown on Cloudland Farms and other local organic farms. This is BYOB and reservations are required, so be sure to plan ahead.
Visit Sugarbush Farm
Sugarbush Farm is the local farm we know and love in Woodstock. Best known for their mouthwatering cheese and maple syrup production. Visit the farm in the spring (March and April), get an up-close look at the sugar-making process, visit year-round, taste cheese and maple syrup, walk nature trails, meet farm animals, have a picnic and enjoy the view!

Weekly farmers market in Woodstock from June to October, green market This is a must if you are in town on a summer Wednesday. You’ll find everything from free face painting and live music to locally made shaved ice and wood-fired pizza. Many local farmers also have stalls so you can stock up on fresh produce, cheese and more. Bring an appetite! Every Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm throughout the summer.
Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park
Swamp-Billings-Rockefeller National Park A wonderful testament to the beauty of conservation and stewardship. The Village of Woodstock prides itself on this bustling national park, including pristine walking and hiking trails, children’s programs and mansion tours. Trails through sugar maples and 400-year-old hemlock trees. Stroll to Pogue and notice the stillness of the water and the reflections of the trees. It is dog friendly (on a leash). Billings Farm and Museum
Woodstock Village is just a short walk away. Billings Farm and Museum It is both a working dairy farm and a history museum. Educational exhibits, interactive programs and activities, gift shop, farmhouse cafe (with ice cream and snacks), activities and demonstrations, and a small movie theater—Billings Farm is a great resource that the whole family will enjoy. They have events all summer long, Check the calendar See what happens when you’re in town. The Sunflower House is a must-see in late summer.

Located along the Ottaquechee River, white cottage The perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day in Woodstock. Buy ice cream or burgers and onion rings, then find a picnic table overlooking the Ottaquechee River. Very kid friendly, this is a great place to bring the whole family. Bring your swimsuit and river shoes!

Head to Mount Tom for a hike and explore the trails along the way as you approach the summit, where you’ll discover stunning views of the village of Woodstock. There are several different trails to hike to the top. We love the wooded Faulkner Trail, which provides decent shade for most of the walk.you can also take Pass through Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Park, stop at Pogue and continue to South Peak. It is paved and you can bring a stroller.

Quiche Canyon
Known as “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon,” located in Quiche, Vermont, the focal point of Quiche State Park is Vermont’s deepest canyon, formed by glacial activity about 13,000 years ago. Visitors can overlook the Ottauquechee River, which flows 165 feet below the viewpoint along Highway 4. The park has several campgrounds (open seasonally), as well as a snack bar and gift shop. There are many hiking trails and picnic spots. Pets are also allowed.

silver lake state park A must-see all year round, but especially interesting in the summer. It has a sandy swimming area, picnic grounds and camping areas. Woodstock is just a short drive away and is popular for swimming, boating and fishing. Pets are not allowed on the beach or designated swimming areas, but pets are allowed throughout the rest of the park. A very family friendly destination with a large grassy area by the beach and a great playground. There is also a snack bar, restrooms, changing rooms and boat and canoe rentals. Stop at Barnard’s and pick up lunch or ice cream after a day at the lake.
Rent a bike from Woodstock Wheels
Woodstock Wheels The Recreation Center, located just outside the village of Woodstock, is an electric bike rental company that offers self-guided routes and tours that can be accessed via mobile phones. These bikes last 20 miles in throttle-only mode and 40 miles with pedal assist. Rent a bike and choose a pre-drawn route through the picturesque Vermont landscape. Open Monday and Thursday 9am-2pm and Friday-Sunday 10am-5pm.

One of my favorite things about Woodstock Village is how easy and manageable it is. Park in downtown Woodstock and browse the small boutiques, bookstores, art galleries and more. Some personal favorites are Woody’s Mercantile, Clover Gift Shop, Yankee Bookstore and FH Gillingham and Sons.
