The surfing competition will be held at Tsurigasaki Beach, which is about 100 kilometers away from the Tokyo Olympic Main Stadium.
There will be men’s and women’s competitions, each with 20 athletes, and the judges will rate the athletes in each round based on criteria such as difficulty and speed.
What else is new?
Well, the new idea is the return of baseball and softball to the Olympics. Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, neither of these two games have appeared.
Seven sports have introduced mixed events for men and women, including new mixed relay events for track and field and swimming.
