Four babies in the neonatal care unit of a government hospital in central India died after a fire engulfed the ward.
NEW DELHI-Four of the 40 babies in the neonatal care unit of a government hospital in central India died when they swept the ward on Monday night. Government officials said this was the latest in a series of hospital fires in the country this year. Dozens of people have been killed.

Many of the other newborns in Kamranehru Hospital in Madhya Pradesh, many of whom were underweight, have been transferred to other wards, the state’s medical education minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang told reporters after the fire was brought under control.
“The other children are being treated,” Sarang said later on Twitter, adding that an investigation into the fire had been ordered.
On Monday, a fire broke out at Kamranehru Hospital in Bhopal, killing four children.

This year, hospital fires in India have killed at least 70 people, including 10 people in the adjacent state of Maharashtra in Madhya Pradesh last weekend.
