Four people have died after being vaccinated with the locally made COVID-19 vaccine in Taiwan. The vaccine was first introduced on Monday. Although the clinical trial is incomplete, the island’s Ministry of Health has authorized the emergency use of Medigen jabs.

Death occurred after Taiwan launched the Medigen vaccine developed by Taipei-based Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corporation on Monday. The drug was approved for emergency use by anyone over the age of 20 last month.
The vaccine is administered in two doses, at least 28 days apart, and its phase 3 clinical trial has not yet been completed. There are also no available efficacy data.
However, a phase 2 trial involving 3,800 participants found that the vaccine increased the COVID-19 antibody levels of 99.8% of participants, said Charles Chen, CEO of Medigen. CNN Report.
Taiwan has achieved success in containing the new coronavirus. Since the beginning of the pandemic, fewer than 16,000 infections and fewer than 828 deaths have been reported. On Wednesday, health authorities did not record new cases of infection.
