Statesville police said four teenagers were suspected of participating in a driving shooting in North Carolina, resulting in the death of an 8-year-old girl and the injury of a 7-year-old boy.
Three of the suspects-Nasir Coley Turner, 18, in Mooresville, Syquien Kalier Miller, 19, Statesville, and Donnell, 19, Statesville Ellison-were all charged with murder, attacking with lethal weapons with intent to kill, felony conspiracy and shooting weapons into occupied property causing serious injury, Fox 8 Report.
The identity of the 17-year-old fourth suspect has not been announced. A juvenile petition was obtained for him, with the same charges as the other three men.
According to Statesville police, one of the suspects, Ellison, is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised to call 911 immediately when they find him.
Allegedly, at around 6:56 pm on June 28, a car shooting occurred along Wilson Lee Avenue in Statesville. After receiving the report of the shooting, the police found that 8-year-old Ah’Miyahh Howell and her 7-year-old cousin Tariq Lowery had been shot wounds outside their home.
Both children were taken to the hospital immediately. The young girl died from her injuries.
After the shooting, the Statesville police reached out to the community and asked for help in solving the case. Officials were told that there was someone outside at the time of the incident, but no witnesses came forward to testify.
With the help of the Ereder County Sheriff’s Office, Statesville police managed to locate two vehicles related to the incident. The first car is a white 2003 Honda Accord, while the second car is a white 2013 Mercedes C250. The police said they drove a vehicle looking for evidence.
Forensic evidence was found in two vehicles. Combined with clues and evidence from the crime scene, the authorities determined the identities of the four suspects.
Statesville investigators are leading the investigation of the case. Statesville police said on Friday that more people may be arrested.

It was not just Howell and Lowery who were shot that night. A 10-year-old boy was also shot dead in a similar driving accident on Newburn Avenue when the police were investigating the first shooting. It is expected that the minor will fully recover, WCNC Report.
The Fox 8 report did not indicate whether the same group of teenagers were suspected of harming 10-year-old boys.
