Yesuto Horigome is the first Olympic skateboarding champion. The world champion from Japan won the street discipline in the Tokyo final with 37.18 points, which is Japan’s third gold medal in these competitions. Brazilian Kelvin Hoefler won the runner-up and Jagger Eaton (USA) won the bronze medal. German athletes did not start at Ariake City Sports Park. American superstar Nyjah Huston only finished seventh.
In the run-up, Hori Mi (22 years old) ranked sixth in his hometown. There are two games of 45 seconds each, after which the athlete can demonstrate five individual skills.
