Former member NXIVM leader Keith Lanier After prosecutors cited her extraordinary cooperation, the inner circle of companies accused of participating in the sex trade avoided jail when the sentence was pronounced on Wednesday.
Lauren Salzman was sentenced to five years probation in Brooklyn Federal Court for her role in the scandal-ridden, cult-like, secret society of brainwashed women, including millionaires and actors. The judge also ordered her to perform 300 hours of community service.
In a letter written to Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis two weeks ago, the prosecutor pointed out that her plea of extortion is usually sentenced to seven to nine years in prison. But they cited her “credible and detailed” testimony against Lanier in the 2019 trial as a reason for leniency.
Salzman was a member of the NXIVM executive committee. He pleaded guilty and agreed to be a government collaborator. He was one of the two witnesses who testified in Lanier’s trial. A savage ritual of loyalty.
Salzman testified that she was suppressed in 2017, while another Raniere believer used a cautery pen to etch his initials in an area near her pelvis, describing a strange start program.
“Master, please brand me. It will be an honor,” she recalled, just before she was branded.
She testified that this was “the most painful thing I have ever experienced.”

She also testified that she organized other brand events and invited women to her home. As part of the ceremony, they were asked to take off their clothes and blindfolded in a circle.
She said that the first woman to be branded “is screaming and screaming.”
In a letter to the judge before the sentencing, Salzman wrote: “I hope I can withdraw my participation. I hope I am stronger and see things sooner. … I can’t even imagine The pain experienced by the victim, the feeling of betrayal, the feeling of being violated, and the lasting emotional trauma.”
When the sentence was pronounced, she apologized to the victims of NXIVM.
Salzman’s lawyer Hector J. Diaz said after the verdict that his client “looks forward to ending a very difficult and incredibly unfortunate chapter in her life. Mark today. Another step towards this goal.
He added: “She hopes to respect the victims in this case and will not make any further statements at this time. She looks forward to living a private and productive life.”
In October last year, Garaufis sentenced Lanier to 120 years in prison for turning some believers into sex slaves with his initials and sexual abuse of 15-year-old teenagers.
In Lanier’s sentence, 15 victims demanded long-term imprisonment.

Last month, “Smallville” actor Alison Mack was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in NXIVM. The prosecution stated that she cooperated with the prosecution after pleading guilty.
According to the federal sentencing guidelines, Mike will face imprisonment of 14 to 17 1/2 years if he fails to cooperate.
After the prosecutor said that she became the “master” of the “slave”, her sentence included imprisonment, and she ordered “to work, take nude photos, and in some cases have sex with Lanier.”
In September last year, Seagram’s alcohol wealth heir Clare Bronfman (Clare Bronfman) was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for his role as Lanier’s unwavering benefactor.
When the authorities approached Lanier, he and Mike and others fled to Mexico to try to reorganize the organization there. He was arrested in March 2018 and sent to the United States; a few days later, Mike was arrested.
