The primary election on May 1 did not produce an absolute winner, so the top two voted winners faced off last night. They are the Texas State Representative, former Navy fighter pilot Jack Elzer and Wright’s widow Susan.
When the votes were counted, Elzey won 53-47. To a large extent, this is not shocking. Elzey is already very famous in the area. He competed with Ron Wright in 2018 and lost the primary election. In this campaign, Elzey went to great lengths to show that he wanted the job. However, when President Trump is involved, nothing is normal.
