An earthquake of at least magnitude 7.2 occurred in the Alaska Peninsula, issuing a tsunami warning

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said on Wednesday night that a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred on the Alaska Peninsula.

The US Geological Survey added that the depth of the earthquake was 35 kilometers.

The U.S. Tsunami Warning System stated that the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1 and issued a tsunami warning to the U.S. Pacific Territory of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The European-Mediterranean Seismic Center (EMSC) estimated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 8.0 and a depth of 10 kilometers.
