The United States won the silver medal, while Australia ranked first with a new Olympic record of 3:51.60.

Penny Oleksiak served as the anchor in the relay race and won the seventh Olympic medal in her career-marking the 21-year-old Canadian athlete as Canada’s most watched Olympian.

Sydney Pickrem also won her first medal, while Maggie Mac Neil and Kylie Masse won her third medal. The four ended with a score of 3:52.60, breaking the national record they had previously set after winning a bronze medal at the 2019 FINA World Championships.
