Casualties after collision


A generationIn the western Czech Republic, on Wednesday morning, a German private railway express train collided with a train in the Czech Republic. The accident caused at least three deaths, including two train drivers, and five others were seriously injured and struggling for their lives. A spokesman for the rescue force in the Czech region said that double-digit people were injured, but no lives were in danger.

Länderbahn announced that shortly after 8 am, an “Alex” train from Munich to Prague had a serious collision with a Czech train in Radonice near Domazlice. Emergency management personnel from the rescue service and the Czech state-owned railway České Drahy (CD) were all at the scene. Länderbahn also dispatched emergency management personnel from Germany and the Czech Republic to the scene of the accident. An emergency telephone number has been set up for relatives (0341 9135 4040).

The Czech Minister of Industry, Trade and Transport Karel Havlíček announced that he was on his way to the scene of the accident. Through the Twitter service, he stated that the express train from Munich ignored the train signal in Radonice with the word “stopped” on it, and then collided with another passenger train. Länderbahn pointed out that the “Alex” traffic in the Czech Republic is the responsibility of the CD.

According to regional emergency manager Maria Svobodová, four helicopters from Prague, Königgräz, Pilsen and South Bohemia have been dispatched to the accident site. The ambulance is also from Germany. The third person to report the death was a woman on a train in the Czech Republic. The two train drivers are Czechs. As early as the summer of 2020, two passenger trains collided head-on in western Bohemia, causing 2 deaths and 24 injuries.
