Last night, 17 Republicans worked with Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden to formulate the final passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act.Those Republicans crossed the aisle and presented Democrats with their top policy priorities, despite Double cross promise Through reconciliation.I covered this in more detail in my article on voting last night (see Senate Republicans bowed in front of Joe Biden).
Obviously, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is not satisfied with us right-wingers, who are not keen on spending 1.2 trillion dollars on 2,700 pages of crazy consumption in the middle of the inflation boom. He lashed out at critics of the bill on Twitter, claiming that we are “playing politics” with infrastructure.
I have some ideas, but let’s get into Cassidy’s rant let’s get started.
Politics is not a game. We need to stop playing games and rebuild our country’s infrastructure. The “Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act” is a historic investment in my country’s infrastructure. But there are a lot of error messages there. Let us figure it out. (1/9)

Let’s stop here, because I want to know what indicators Cassidy concluded that our infrastructure is in such a bad state that it needs to be rebuilt immediately? Work always needs to be completed at any given time, but after we have spent nearly twice the normal budget, is 2021 the only time? Why not in 2023, when you might have a majority of votes and be able to get better bills? Cassidy will never answer this question because he has no answer.
US$47 billion for resiliency; US$40 billion for national bridges; US$25 billion for airport improvement projects, such as terminal expansion, assistance in planning, rebuilding runways, improving lighting and funding air navigation facilities; (3/9)
-US Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (@SenBillCassidy) August 7, 2021
US$3.5 billion was used to mitigate flooding; US$3.5 billion was used to clean up the most polluted Superfund site in the United States; Brownfields allocated US$1.5 billion to revitalize dilapidated properties. (5/9)

These are the many universalities of the 2,700 page bill. How is all this money distributed? What company to go to? Which projects are specifically targeted? If Cassidy wants to prove his point, he better read the bill and provide details. He can even guarantee that the money will not be misappropriated, but we all know that he has not read it.
Then there is this statement.
Third, critical racial theory is not in the bill, it has never been. Fairness is not the slogan of the CRT. The language in the bill will not change the current anti-discrimination law at all. (7/9)
-US Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (@SenBillCassidy) August 7, 2021
Please note that Cassidy pointed out that the $53 billion in redistribution of funds that should not have been allocated (I assume this is from the COVID Relief Act) somehow constitutes the full payment of the Act. It’s like I claim that if I buy $50 worth of goods with a credit card, return it to cash, and then spend $50 on other things “paid in full”. No, this is money I didn’t have in the first place. In addition, where does the other 1.15 trillion US dollars come from? Cassidy didn’t even bother to explain his claims, but instead accused the CBO of not playing the accounting game he and the Democrats wanted to play.
As for the claim about CRT, it is true, but a group was formed to help produce “fairness” in the truck driving industry. You know, we should completely spend money on what is really necessary.
To my surprise, some people would be happy to use this to play politics. Guess they live in a state with new roads, new bridges, new ports, and perfect coastlines. Must be very good (9/9)

No, there is no mileage tax on the bill. Just provide funding for a committee to figure out how to make a job work. Does Cassidy just not know the fact that the left never stops? Democrats will never just say “Well, we studied it, but we didn’t do it.” On the contrary, this committee opened the door to a major issue that Republicans must fight back in the future. It is actually handing over ammunition on the other side, and Cassidy is happy to do so and slams you against it.
After that, what shocked me the most was how willing Cassidy was to discredit him when he was too lazy to condemn Joe Biden. Extension of moratorium on illegal evictionsA Republican with any backbone will use infrastructure trading as leverage to try to prevent this from happening. On the contrary, these Senate Republicans immediately took the defensive and hid in the shadows, hoping that they would not offend Biden and the Democrats who tried to pass this “agreement.” This is sad and does not represent a real opposition party at all.
If Cassidy pursues the left with a quarter of the ferocity he has done on his own side, then the Republican Party may really make a difference one day. For now, we are left with this sad weakness. But please make sure and give them a majority again in 2022.
