How does university liquidation work, and what will happen next?

This year’s A-level results will be announced on August 10 (Tuesday), and many people hope that they will achieve the required grades for admission to university.

However, due to the pandemic for the second year in a row, GCSE and A-levels were cancelled and replaced by grades given by teachers. This year’s result day may cause more tension.

As teachers’ predictions may lower many scores, many students may miss their preferred university-this is where Ucas liquidation comes in.

Here, we look at liquidation, who it can help and how to use it.

Clearing is a system that matches vacant university places with prospective students after A-level results are obtained.

It is often used by companies and insurance options that miss the university, and is operated by the admissions service Ucas.

There is also a process called Ucas adjustment, which allows those whose A-level scores are better than expected in exchange for a more prestigious institution.

From July to October, if the student does not have an admission letter from a university or college and there are still places for the course, you can use Clearing to apply for the course.

If the following situations occur, you can choose to liquidate:

-You decide to oppose your first and second university choices.

-You decide to change the route.

-You applied before June 30, but have not received any quotations.

-You apply after June 30 and pass the liquidation automatically.

-You did not succeed in entering your first or second choice.

Clearing opens on June 30. If students do not currently have any provisional or unconditional admission letter from any other university, they can use it to apply for a course of study.

For those who are waiting to receive the results, they need to make sure that their location in the selected university is not confirmed before applying elsewhere.

Students need to call the university they wish to apply to through liquidation to ensure that they still have places for the courses they want to study. You can only apply to one university through liquidation at a time.
