- Jack Davidson shot and killed five people on Thursday night.
- The police found no motive for the attack, but they did not consider terrorism or any far-right association.
In the southern British city of Plymouth, a man used a pump-action shotgun for a 6-minute frantic killing, shooting and killing 5 people, including a 3-year-old girl. The police believed this was a domestic violence case.
Mass shootings are rare in the UK, where gun ownership is relatively low, and the rampage on Thursday was the worst such incident in more than a decade.
Police on Friday named the gunman Jack Davidson, a 22-year-old crane operator. Police said he aimed a gun at himself after killing five victims on Thursday night.

Devon and Cornwall police chief Sean Sawyer said the police found no motive, but they did not consider terrorism or any far-right organization, even though they were browsing Davidson’s computer.
Sawyer told reporters:
We believe that we have a domestic-related incident that has spread to the streets and saw several people in Plymouth die in extremely tragic circumstances.
The shooting began at around 18:30 on Thursday and first killed a 51-year-old woman Davidson had met in a house. Then he ran outside and immediately shot and killed the young girl and her 43-year-old male relative in the street.
Davidson shot at two other seriously injured passers-by, then entered the park and shot another man and then another woman.
Then he aimed the gun at himself before the gun officer could deal with him. A few minutes later, the fatal shooting was over.
Sawyer said that witnesses described the weapon as a pump-action shotgun. He can’t say whether Davidson has a mental health problem. Davidson holds a gun license.
In a video posted on the Internet, Davidson complained that he did not lose his virginity as a teenager and described himself as “incel”-or an involuntary single. According to The Times, he complained in the video about being defeated by life.
In the past few years, the United Kingdom has been attacked by many deadly militants, but this is since June 2010 in Cumbria, northern England, when a taxi driver killed 12 people and then shot them in a rampage. The worst mass killings since suicide.
The deadliest mass shooting in modern British history was the 1996 massacre in Dunblane, Scotland, when a gunman killed 16 students and a teacher in a local school before committing suicide.
