Let’s review some highlights-given the absolute absurdity of the display, there are many highlights.
Biden claimed that the government knew that Kabul might fall and that all emergencies had been planned, calling it an “obvious possibility.” However, this is in stark contrast to their language a month ago, when Biden expressed overwhelming confidence in the Afghan army and insisted that he would not leave the embassy. The President also said that the influx of troops (the number is now as high as 7,000) was foreseen and planned. That failed the smell test. The attempt to cover up Biden’s assertion that the Afghan army can fight the Taliban is also revisionist. Do we believe that government and military officials do not know that the Afghan army may lack will? The only way to discover this is to watch the Taliban take over the country? Let us also deal with the argument that Biden does not want to “send” more troops into the country. This is described as inevitable by the talking point. But who is talking about doing this? Isn’t the deployment of 7,000 soldiers in a panic evacuation attempt eligible for a surge? Biden’s talking points contradict what he is actually doing, and anyone who reads them should not forget this.
Later, the talking points claimed that the government was “in the process of” evacuating American citizens and issuing special visas. But why is this process not completed before the combat troops are withdrawn? Especially about American citizens, including government personnel? That should be effortless. However, here we are.
Someone mentioned that Trump has reduced the number of American service personnel from 13,000 to 2,500. But why pull the last 2,500 people before the evacuation is complete? It just doesn’t make sense.
Finally, we have seen someone claim that if the Taliban give Al Qaeda a safe haven in the future, Biden will pursue the “consequences” of the Taliban. But what are these consequences? You would think that this will be something to share with the American people at this point. Are we going to invade again? Use aerodynamics? Use meaningless economic sanctions? Now is the specific time, not further confusion.
The whole file is a joke. Pelosi thinks it is suitable to spread it is a serious mistake of her judgment. This will only make Biden look worse. However, it does provide a preview of what we might hear Biden in a later speech. Many excuses and blame others. Be prepared for it.
