When you are on TV, pay attention to your words.
Content is king, but attitude is also important.
Announcer Jack Morris for the Detroit Tigers recently learned this lesson.
On Tuesday-after the Los Angeles Angels missed a pitch in the sixth inning-live broadcast analyst Matt Shepard asked his colleague the Tigers how they might want to develop a strategy against designated hitter Masahira Otani.
Probably because Shohei-called “Shotime” by American fans-came from Japan, and Jack changed his speech in response.
“Be very, very careful,” he commented-pronounce each “R” in “very” as “LR” and “R” in “careful” as “L”.
Obviously, the commentator has made it clear that pretentiousness is not acceptable.
Therefore, when pitcher Shohei hit the ball in the ninth inning, Jack was slowed by a mea culpa:
“Well, guys, Shohei Ohtani came to the plate, which caught my attention-if I offend anyone, especially anyone in the Asian community, I sincerely apologize because of what I said about pitching and Shohei Ohtani’s caution. I have no intention of doing anything offensive. If I do, I apologize. Of course I respect and respect this person very much.”

The stress event is of course bold.
People have long known that such efforts will not have good results.
In fact, this is the premise of the routine of comedy master Brian Regan:
That joke is back More than 30 years, But maybe Jack has never heard of it.
Strangely, in some areas, Asian accents are obviously fair game— Family Guy Felon, but it Stay on tv:
As for Jack Morris, that can’t be said.
Of course, comedy is not his job; he should attract audiences, not poke players.
In light of the dispute, the regional network-and Jack’s employer-Bally Sports Detroit issued a statement.
This Hall of Fame member Re-education on the deck:
[We are] Very disappointed with the remarks made by analyst Jack Morris in the Tigers game last night. Jack has been suspended indefinitely from the Tigers broadcast and will receive bias training to educate him about the impact of his comments and how he can make a positive impact in a diverse community. We adopt a zero tolerance policy for prejudice or discrimination, and apologize for his insensitive remarks.
The Tigers also caught the disaster:
The Detroit Tigers take great pride in respecting the diverse cultures that make up our players, coaching staff, front desk, fan base and community. We are deeply disappointed by the comments Jack Morris made on the radio last night. We fully support Bally Sports Detroit’s decision and its ongoing commitment to ensure that all personnel comply with the highest standards of personal conduct.
Bally Sports Detroit stated that Jack Morris has “suspended the Tigers broadcast indefinitely and will receive prejudice training.”

As the saying goes, what matters is not just what you say, but how you say it.
The world of sports has become More and more serious -Just ask Cleveland Indian guardian.
The pleasure of a foreign accent-like an earth-can’t fly.
Jack Morris knows now.
If I had to guess, I would say that he will not repeat the same mistakes soon.
He saw a joke…it was a swing and a miss.
Strike out.
