On Thursday, the Taliban announced the establishment of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”, which put a nail in the coffin of the US-backed Afghan government.
Zabihullah Mujahid posted a statement and new name on Twitter on Thursday.

The organization used the country’s name when it ruled the country from 1996 to 2001, after which the country was seized by the U.S.-led army.
