Some American patients who are skeptical of coronavirus injections refuse to receive life-saving blood transfusions from vaccinated donors. According to a report by the Daily Beast.
The American Red Cross said its officials had to answer questions about whether the vaccinated blood would be “contaminated” with blood components. Covid-19 injection, According to spokesperson Emily Osment (Emily Osment).
But the doctor had to explain that the blood donation of the vaccinated person is safe.
“Although antibodies produced by the stimulated immune system to vaccination are found throughout the blood, the actual vaccine components are not,” Red Cross Biomedical Communications Director Jesse Merrill told The Daily Beast.
Other blood centers in the United States have also reported similar conversations with patients.
Dr. Louis Katz, chief medical officer of ImpactLife, a blood center in Iowa, said he has heard of a “small number” of patients requesting blood from unvaccinated donors. He added that the resounding answer from the center and the hospital was “no.”
Dr. Geeta Paranjape, medical director of the Carter Blood Care Center in Bedford, Texas, said that the father of a boy who was planning to undergo surgery asked his son if he could get blood from an unvaccinated donor.
According to the Daily Beast, Paranjape said: “Many people think that there are some kind of microchips, otherwise they will be cloned.”
Experts say that as many as 70% of the country’s blood supply now comes from donors who have been vaccinated or infected with COvid-19.
Dr. Michael Bush, director of the Vitalant Institute, which is monitoring antibody levels in samples from the U.S. blood supply, told the Beast: “Less than 10% of the blood we collect has no antibodies.”
Most importantly, the blood center does not collect data on whether blood donors are infected or vaccinated against Covid-19.
According to Reuters, as a precautionary measure, donors are required to wait 7 or 28 days after vaccination before donating, so as not to confuse the side effects of vaccination with the disease after donation. Reuters reported.
