The two-day mandatory “anti-racism” training for leaders of the California Faculty Association last week went one step further than many critical racial theory courses-including mocking the Taliban for taking over Afghanistan.
Union, also known as Kalfak, Is the exclusive collective bargaining agent for all faculty and staff in the 23 campuses of the California State University system, including lecturers, professors, counselors, librarians and coaches.
As expected, according to the screenshots specifically provided to RedState by the attendees, its goal remains the same:
- Understand the pillars that support white supremacy
- Remind us of the history of our country and how it normalized racism in a series of dynamics-history, culture, institutions, and relationships
- Understand the key definitions of racism (personal, interpersonal, structure and system)
According to the participant, the training course started in the normal way, but the discussion quickly turned to current affairs, and:
“One of the representatives just mentioned the fall of Afghanistan and said with a smile that this is just another example of how the United States’made’ enemies so that they can start war.”
In conjunction with anti-racism training, union representatives referred to “attacks” on critical racial theories, believing that these attacks were based on ignorance, and said:
“Critical race theory is under attack because it tries to illuminate all history. People don’t even know what the CRT is!”
At the beginning of the second day, participants described a creepy group exercise led by the CALFAC representative:
First, we are all asked to say what we *feel* our race in the body and ask for answers.
Participants who teach cultural and social competence courses told RedState:
My overall impression of the speakers is that they know very little about the structure and concepts of culture and race. Most of the content they shared with us sounded like they were given the development narrative point, but they lacked the ability to elaborate.
Most of the discussion [simply] Include the following message, repeat:
- We live in white supremacy
- Certain groups (minorities) that do not support this information are actually just being wooed and trying to act as “model minorities”
- History is taught only from one aspect
Training by Audrena Redmond, As the director of the union’s anti-racism social justice work project:
Her work includes identifying policy and practice changes, developing and promoting anti-racism seminars, organizing biennial fairness conferences, and hosting the podcast Radio Free CSU. Over the years, she has also organized the annual Leadership Academy for newly elected officials and member activists.
Redmond is also the co-founder of Black Lives Matter – Long Beach and The Black Lives Matter Director of Political Education on Black Life Issues, Which may explain her answer to the questions posed by two white female members who opposed her description of “white” culture.
The first woman disputed Redmond’s claim that there is only one “white culture”.
“…A common misconception you said is that white people are a culture, and I think we put it on the board — one of the narratives is that if you are white, you will be considered a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant, so You know, historically British people, Catholics, yes. This is completely incorrect, because every white person has a subculture within, and they are just classified as this WASP type of view, which is completely incorrect Everyone is-from a different background.
Redmond affirmed her position and replied: “That would be – yes, that is the dominant white culture in the United States – in the United States, it is WASP.”
Another participant then asked: “Then, I can ask, what is your definition of this WASP white culture?”
Redmond replied (emphasis):
“I mean, I have my full list of narratives, yes, for me. And for me, it is—it is— All bad, if you want to ask me what my narrative is, in most cases. So-but if you think-remember yesterday I talked about the establishment of “white people”-what does “white people” mean as codified law? So I will start-so I will stick to it. At that time-WASP was first a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant, from England, from England, under the rule of the King, King James and those people, and then anyone else who was sufficiently accepted was considered a secondary white . So I will stick to it.
So in the United States, as “white people” are codified into law, white Anglo-Saxon Protestants are in the most important position of this meaning. So I can make my own narrative list, but we will move on to the next set. But is this okay?
The woman who asked the question said, “It’s okay, thank you,” but the expression on her face was a frustration.
No, Ms. Redmond, your “narrative” about the “white wasp culture” is not good, it is not good. Are we not told that unless we are part of a certain ethnic group, we cannot define this culture ourselves? Well, two white women tell you that there is a lot of “white” culture in the United States, but you don’t. What will happen if they push back further? They obviously feel insecure, and they are forced to sit there and listen to the gibberish, which is part of their job. Will they now be slandered and attacked for not being anti-racism enough? If white students at California State University’s 23 campuses refuse to accept your “narrative” about their culture, will they be ridiculed? We already know the answer to this question, but this openly hostile attitude towards a race is despicable and morally unacceptable.
Moreover, the 29,000 members of the union spent two full working days discussing the rubbish.
