American soldiers in famous photos from victims of the Kabul attack

The 23-year-old U.S. Marine Corps posted a photo of her holding an Afghan baby on Instagram. “I love my job” Nicole Ji wrote. A few days later, she died.

A few days later, the woman from California passed away: on Thursday, a suicide bomber blew herself up in front of the boarding gate while on duty at Kabul Airport. Dozens of civilians and 13 American soldiers who participated in the Kabul evacuation operation were killed. Ji is one of them.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced the full names of the soldiers killed on Saturday. Therefore, Ji was assigned to a Marine Corps (“Marine Corps”) in North Carolina. According to the Pentagon, the coffin containing the killed soldiers should arrive at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware over the weekend.
