Nordic New England Farmhouse Design Inspiration

Vermont Kitchen Renovation

We arrived in Woodstock late last week and returning to this house immediately reminded me of all the projects we had to complete here. Some are interesting and others are not so interesting (decide what we do with vinyl siding :/). But our favorite is a good project and challenge.

One thing I am often asked about is our process. How do we start and what do we decide to do first?I did talk a bit This postIn this house, Craig destroyed or partially destroyed quite a few things: all the bathrooms, kitchens, basements, all the decorations, and other random built-in objects around the house.Since we bought the house (now less than a year ago), Craig has refurbished the floor and refurbished it kitchen with Master bathroom, Marin’s room, Renovated the basement, guest room and basement bathroom, replaced the popcorn ceiling, and partially renovated the living room. We still have many projects to do, including building a mud house in a part of the basement, decorating our bedroom, decorating the living room, determining the dining situation in the kitchen, replacing the siding and repairing the deck.

Whenever we start a project, we always start by looking for inspiration. I like to describe the style of this house as a Nordic New England farmhouse. We are certainly not minimalists, but we will definitely find inspiration in Scandinavian design, and of course we also like the New England farmhouse style. We also live in the ranch, so we have limitations. Many of the ideas we found were not realistic for our small ranch house, but we found a way to use them as a starting point for things that can work in our space. We all like Pinterest’s design and decoration ideas, you can follow me here. These are some images and ideas that make us excited about more projects this autumn and winter. Follow our IG @thecozyranch and also!

I have also been looking for excellent design and decoration blog or IG account. Let me know any favorites in the comments.

I am a big fan Jesse’s decoration and design style, But it is usually not in our budget, haha. I really like this cozy corner with benches and round tables in the Windsor restaurant. It fits the space of our Vermont kitchen very well, although we need to recreate it on a smaller scale. We hope to go to antiques and find a similar style dining chair to match our table.

I love every corner Alice’s home. Every little detail is so thoughtful and she is also funny, so I highly recommend her attention In IG If you haven’t. The condition of this cabinet/locker in her mud room gave me the main information about the basement. We don’t have a mud room upstairs (when you walk into the house, there is only a small closet). Craig created this space Buying coats and hats is great, but living in New England in winter, you need to find a place to put all your gear. We want to create a space to store boots, snowboard/cross-country ski equipment, bicycles, etc. Because you can enter our basement from the outside of the house, this is the ideal place to create a mud room.

Elise Fox’s Mud Room

This mud room designed by Becki Owens It’s another one I like very much. I think this might be a great IKEA hack, Craig can build a bench with store-bought wood and then use the IKEA PAX for the upper cabinet. We try to figure out what we can actually get from IKEA, because many things cannot be delivered. We might paint the floor of the basement. Although I like to make tiles, it is not worth the price to pay for this space.

To be honest, it is really difficult for me to find anything similar to what I want in the living room. This is a stylish (and small) space with a fireplace, a large window on one side, and the front door on the same wall. I’m 99% sure I want the Sixpenny Gabriel chair to face our sofa, which is Sixpenny Elias. I ordered some fabric samples to figure out what color I want. The chairs are spacious, but do not take up space (I think). I hope to find an antique coffee table and some antique side tables. We found a great carpet New England Loom I love.I want to fill the room with many different frames and prints, for example This eclectic gallery wall was designed by Rejuvenation.
