Twitter announced on Wednesday that it will introduce a “safe mode”, a new feature that allows users to automatically block an account within a few days to prevent any explicit comments on them and their tweets.

The social media platform stated that it wants Twitter to be a place for dialogue, but sometimes this may be interrupted by “shit and harassment.”
“Unwelcome tweets and noise can hinder conversations on Twitter, so we introduced a safe mode, a new feature designed to reduce disruptive interactions,” the press release said.
The new feature will allow users to choose to automatically block spam or abusive responses after turning on safe mode. This feature can be accessed through settings.
The new security features are undergoing beta testing and will be evaluated by the feedback team.
“We want you to enjoy healthy conversations, so this test is a way for us to limit overwhelming and unwelcome interactions that may interrupt these conversations.
