Paris has set a city-wide speed limit of 30 km/h to persuade drivers to give up their cars

According to the report, efforts to reduce the number of cars in the French capital also include ending 60,000 of the 144,000 parking spaces on Paris’ public roads, as well as widening sidewalks and installing new bicycle lanes.

The speed limit concept is to reduce the attractiveness of driving and persuade more Parisians to walk or use public transportation.

A poll conducted by the Paris City Hall showed that 59% of residents supported the new measures announced on Monday, but the opposition rate in the greater Paris area was even higher, at 61%.

Another driver called the rule “crazy” and said that cars are as slow as electric scooters.
