Cabinet ministers pressure the scientists to approve Coronavirus disease-19 Child jab.
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson Emphasize that as a parent, he hopes to be able to choose whether his child is vaccinated.
He said National Health Service Prepare to send health personnel to the school for injections.
However, when asked whether JCVI should “consider” the decision regarding child boosters and jabs, Mr. Williamson told Sky News: “As a parent, I think that parents know that they have the right to choose will make you I am very relieved as to whether their children will be vaccinated.”
When asked whether the priority should be to provide a booster plan for adults or a vaccine for children and young people, the Cabinet Minister added: “We have the ability to provide vaccination for children and provide a booster plan.
“So it’s not all-or-nothing.
“This is a situation to ensure that we fight the virus as best as possible.
“We are ready. If we get the launch from JCVI, we are ready. The NHS, which has been so successful in launching this vaccination plan, is ready to enter schools and provide this vaccination plan to children.”
Mr. Williamson later added: “We are obviously waiting for JCVI’s decision. Maybe many of us are very eager to hear this news and very much hope that we can vaccinate people under 16 years of age.
“I certainly hope this is a decision that will be made soon.”
He stated that he could not give a timetable for when the decision is expected to be made because the JCVI is a “completely independent committee”, adding: “They are not there to accept instructions from the government.”
“They will make a decision, I was told and I understand, very, very fast,” he said.
According to the recommendations of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI), people over 12 years of age with diseases such as leukemia, advanced HIV, and recent organ transplantation will receive a third injection.
The announcement is separate from any decision on the booster plan, but it is understood that there will be relevant news soon.
Health Minister Sajid Javid stated that the government will continue to plan to start a strengthening plan this month and that it will give priority to those most at risk of Covid-19.
JCVI stated that it is still considering the potential benefits of boosting vaccines to other populations and is awaiting further evidence to inform its decision.
It has also not been decided whether to expand the vaccine program to include all healthy 12-15 year old children.
In its recommendation on Wednesday, JCVI stated that people who are severely immunosuppressed during the first or second dose of the vaccine may not be able to fully respond to vaccination, which means that they may be more protected than the wider population. few.
