The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in many parts of the world has highlighted the urgent need for accurate spatial data, which has prompted governments and international development agencies to find reliable sources of such information to inform their COVID-19 interventions.A sort of Recent articles in the New York Times spotlight GRID3 Plan, cooperate with countries to generate, verify and use Geospatial data About population, settlements, infrastructure and borders. Our podcast this week played a conversation between Chisimdi Onwuteaka, the GRID3 communications officer, and Nazir Halliru, now the country manager of GRID3 Nigeria. Halliru described how GRID3 produced and distributed paper maps — containing data on vaccination locations, population, comorbidity risks, and settlement names — to support Nigeria’s COVID-19 vaccination plan and other development interventions.
