Mr. Rüttiger, you are a psychologist helping to develop modern office concepts and mixed working environments that people like to work there. How does it work?
Many are reminiscent of well-designed apartments with different areas, rooms where work, communication, communication, retreat are concentrated, and the feeling of being at home.
Are many things worse in the past?
In the past, companies didn’t care whether people felt comfortable there. Provide them with a room, and then people use wall calendars or pictures on the table to make the room as beautiful as possible. The office is a place of work, not a place for inspiration or communication.
After phases work from home This nameless baldness will make one of them even more unpleasant.
Yes. Since Corona needs and makes hybrid work possible, this is no longer enough. People want space for social connections. Retiring to the bread period or changing money in the cafeteria is no longer enough. The value of the subject did not exist before.
What all new office concepts have in common is that the walls are giving way.
Basically it is the same as a new apartment or house. There used to be a kitchen, dining room, and living room, everything was separated. Today, 80% of the new room plans have reduced walls: I cook there, eat there, live there. I put down or demolished walls in order to do different things in the room.

You and the founder run the company “Planning and Renovation büroforum” in Würzburg. What are you doing there?
Our business areas include the overall planning of “concept project business” and “modern working environment”. With 80 employees, we provide comprehensive planning services from initial ideas to implementation for personal land use concepts and indoor space planning. On the way to a new working environment, we support the company’s change process, such as through seminars and change management measures, to minimize employee fear and resentment.
What is the biggest problem for you?
The biggest obstacle is the company’s employees: how do you bring them into the modern world of work? In 99% of cases, suspicion is a psychological factor. Most employees are afraid of change.
How do you eliminate their fear?
Through communication. By bringing opinion leaders to a table. In seminars with the employees in charge, we understand the needs point by point, try to eliminate prejudices, and use pictures and examples of implemented projects to explain what is possible, what changes and what improvements. We use the term multi-space office instead of open office. So we always try to minimize fears, make them emotional, generate happiness from fear, and look forward to what is about to happen.
But this sounds pretty optimistic.
