I usually don’t do case reviews because there is almost nothing to write about. However, I recently ordered Ringke Fusion and Spigen Ultra Hybrid for my phone. Pixel 6 And think they are worth writing.
The similarity between the two types of protective cases is that they are both transparent plastic, which can provide good protection for your phone while showing the underlying design and color.
I tend to buy a thick black, highly protective case, but I really like the Sorta Seafoam color scheme and want something less bulky than the Spigen Tough Armor Case I tried on the Pixel 6 Pro.
From the appearance point of view, there is not much difference between the two phone cases, both can be firmly installed on the phone, and all the buttons and holes are in the correct position.
Spigen Ultra Hybrid uses a hard plastic backplane, and all edges and around the camera are made of flexible TPU plastic.
Spigen claims to use air cushion technology to protect the phone from falling corners. This sounds more beautiful than it actually is. At the most corner of the case, part of the TPU is cut off, so the corner of the phone will not touch the plastic.
In both cases, there is a lip away from the screen, which provides some screen protection to prevent it from falling face down.
Ringke has an upwardly curved edge to create a deeper edge for the top and bottom edges of the case. Therefore, you can get better protection, and when you touch the screen at the edge, your fingers will not be caught by the visibly raised edges.
Spigen weighs 34 grams, while Ringke weighs 30 grams, which may indicate additional protection for Spigen
Price and availability
Ringke Fusion costs only £7.99 and can still be delivered the next day.
The price of Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case has almost doubled, and there are always stocks and shortages. Currently, it can be used for next day delivery.
overall
I did not perform a drop test with my brand new phone, so I am not sure which is the best.
Subjectively, I would say that Spigen provides better protection, but it doesn’t feel good in your hand, and it costs twice as much.
For many years, I have been a big fan of Spigen and I have not used any of their phones before. However, I ended up retaining Ringke Fusion this time. If I break the phone, I may eventually regret it, but overall, I am satisfied with the quality of protection and it will not add too much volume to my phone.
