The Duke awarded the Fearless Courage Award to five soldiers, veterans, and military families, and he talked about how his military experience has shaped him today.

He told the audience at the Intrepid Museum: “It’s great to return to the USS Intrepid ten years after my last visit-a lot has changed since then. Just last week, I took the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile for a drive- —What good is this for realizing the American dream.
“I have lived in the United States for almost two years. I have to say that I have witnessed your support for all those who are in danger in order to defend our freedom and freedom-this is very remarkable, and it has been affected. Great respect.
“It reminds me of the reverence that we British have for our military. The armed forces of our two countries have a special connection, and I am grateful for the coalition allies who have supported us for many years.”
Harry has served in the military for ten years, has visited Afghanistan twice, and has organized Invictus Games for wounded and injured soldiers and veterans since 2014.
He added: “When we commemorate and reflect on British Memorial Day, it will be the same day as Veterans’ Day in the United States tomorrow. The army and serving the family. We and them are doing better.
“I have served in the military for 10 years, including two missions in Afghanistan-once as an FAC (forward air controller) on the ground with some of you in the dust, and another as an Apache helicopter pilot Support and talk with you in the air.
“There is nothing more valuable than the time my soldiers and I spend in the shells. I eat MRE (instant food) behind the tank. Thanks for the exchange. Knowing this is safer under the mission overhead, or when you need it most. Make each other laugh at the time.
“My experience in the military has made me who I am today, and I will always be grateful to those who served with me-no matter where we are.”
