The public education complex is not on our side… It’s time for good people to become ugly-Hongzhou

For nearly 20 years, I have been a school choice advocate and activist. For a long time, I have always believed that the best way to promote school selection is to build bridges, educate people about this process, support legislation, and stay away from fierce rhetoric that shuts out potential allies, and will never, never, never treat you. The opponent feels unhappy.

Well, I have changed my mind.

It’s time to become unpleasant. Damn it, it’s time to become completely angry.

Thursday New York Post Report The National Association of School Boards (NSBA) actually consulted with the White House before sending They are now notorious “domestic terrorists” memorandum.

The parent rights organization “Parents Defense Education” found an October memo from the NSBA, which details at least one meeting at the White House before they sent the “domestic terrorist” letter.

The memo, published by the Parents Defense Education Organization on Thursday, details at least one specific meeting with White House staff on September 14, just two weeks before the NSBA sent a letter to President Biden.

“At the OSAED meeting on September 14, 2021 [Organization of State Association Executive Directors] The contact group, they were told that they met with White House staff that morning and the NSBA was preparing to write to the president.” Memo reading.

“Subsequently, on September 17, 2021, the interim executive director sent a notice via email to the executive director of the state association stating that a letter requesting federal assistance will be sent.”

Merrick Garland’s public response was made on October 4.

After reading New York Post The report, I was suddenly filled with a kind of righteous indignation, moral righteous indignation…just general anger.

It’s not good to get along with these people. The whole thing is out of control, and our parents should be blamed. We are so comfortable. We believe that our elected school board members are on our side. After all, they are our neighbors, they are our compatriots. These are not tough politicians. They are local caring citizens who want to serve.

But we were wrong. They are not just ordinary citizens. They are not on our side. They are not here to serve.

You will not run for the school board because you (and me, we…we are all guilty, here) have better things to do. You don’t feel the need to intervene in public affairs. You have church activities, your children have sports and social activities, and you are taking care of elderly parents and sick neighbors. You always leave this work to those who seem to really want to do it.

The problem is—as we have discovered—the people who aspire to do this work are the ones whose power becomes irresistibly intoxicated. They are the people who call the whistleblower hotline to report that the mask or vaccine passport has not been checked properly. They are people who traditionally have little power or control in their lives, and therefore seek to exercise power over anyone in some way. Those who love public office, they ruin everything.

As long as we occasionally show up at school board meetings to discuss school lunches and half-day issues, everything is fine for them. They like these interactions because it involves us asking for their help and asking for their permission.

Of course, they hate that their parents suddenly get angry about what they allow to happen to our school and students. Although they protested, it was not the subject of the complaint that angered them. It is the parents who suddenly realize that the school board serves them, not the other way around. The power dynamic is changing, and they hate it. Many school board members are just glorious meter maids, and the more you protest against the ticket, the more arrogant they become.

So, although I advocate grace and peaceful confrontation, I said it’s time to make trouble and continue to make trouble until we get what we want. Even in my beloved Bible, there are stories like this: People dressed in the cloak of righteous anger become quite unpleasant in order to repel the enemy.

In this case, the enemy is the deaf-mute school board and its allies in the teachers’ union.

These people are so unaccustomed to fighting back that they think that angry parents are terrorists…not dissatisfied customers. They are so cowardly that they can’t even bear to hear others criticize the bad work they do. They are weak.

It’s time to make us strong. It’s time for us to be saboteurs. The squeaky wheels get grease. We see that this applies to progressive activists every day. We have seen that this applies to brave but not tired parents in Loudoun County and the rest of the country.

NSBA, teachers union, this government-they are not on our side. They were just satisfied with our complacency, and were eventually pushed too tightly, too fast. We don’t think that simply holding our elected officials responsible for the “war”, but if what they see is a war, then they will get it.

It’s time for us to sink into the mud, dig trenches and begin to settle down for a long time.

We are not enemies. We are parents. We are the biggest supporters of our children. If we have to stand in front of our children and accept the bows and arrows thrown at them by the power merchants, so be it.

The advancement of education has awakened the sleeping beast.

Listen to our roar.
